[Showcase] Keith Sweat, Joe, Dru Hill, Ginuwine, & Kut Klose @ Peacock Theater (03/14/26)

Make it last forever... and ever, after the break!

R&B Lovers Tour Featuring Keith Sweat, Joe, Dru Hill, Ginuwine, & Kut Klose at The Peacock Theater

(03/14/26)

Greetings!

From one musical genre to another, we visited the Peacock Theater on this day to experience an Avengers-like team-up of some of R&B's iconic crooners. All of whom played an important role in building our childhood soundtrack. For this listener spent most of his youth serenading & writing romantic stories to the tunes of Keith Sweat, Kut Klose, Dru Hill, Ginuwine, and my personal favorite... Joe! Their timeless anthems continue to stick with me although those CDs are violently scratched nowadays. It was a time.

You should never question the materialization of a Bucket List show... you just gotta go experience them when it appears. And that's what we did this evening!

I've spent ages at LA Live throughout the decades... from Award Shows, Concerts, Sporting Events, Conventions, etc... so there is always a sense of calm after leaving its parking garage. We stopped into the Yardhouse for a quick bite before heading straight for the merchandise booth right pass the Peacock Theater security checkpoint. There wasn't a hour long line unlike the NIN show, but there was a first time for something... for I've never seen any artist sell a collection of branded "delicates" before. That's why Keith Sweat remains "The Man". Though I didn't see anyone throw them on stage during the show as intended? We did take home a few shirts.

Despite featuring six distinct acts, the R&B Lovers show ran quite fast. Each artist, except for Keith Sweat & Kut Klose, got a 20 to 30 minute slice followed by a brief five to ten-minute break. Made the undercard of Joe, Sisqó + Dru Hill, & Ginuwine focus mainly on their popular hits (that you probably all know and love). Full throttle with no slowdown... as dictated by Mr. Sweat.

Sisqó and the reuniting OG Dru Hill ended up celebrating everything from their debut album (which celebrates its 30th anniversary come November... yikes!) over their typical expected hits like "The Thong Song" or "How Deep Is Your Love". Yes, them not performing my favorite song (the latter) did sort of disappoint this attendee.

"How could you not highlight that 'Rush Hour' smash?" I thought on the ride home. However, hindsight through deep critical thinking was able to make sense of the decision. Good on them.

Luckily, Joe didn't disappoint! His showcase hit all my favorite bits. Makes Joe totally deserving to sit in a King's Throne during his set. I will continue to bow down. His beautiful discography lights up my world anytime they tickle these ears. Yes, these are totally bias fan boy words / feelings, but never in a million years would I have predicted I'd been covering a Joe concert. Thought my time had past, if that makes sense? Truly a dream moment in my concert life. I don't have many experiences like this left on my list, which is crazy to write about. We truly are on the final stretch. Adds weight to each of these random nonsensical blurbs.

Photography wise, this camera phone gallery isn't anything to write home about. It's below average at best with the crowd shots being the standouts. The Peacock's lighting didn't settle until the end and I should've held back more. Oh well! I got to see Joe, Dru Hill, Ginuwine, Kut Klose, and Keith Sweat live in concert! That made this a wonderful event for this concertholic! Great memories with the best R&B has to offer.

Enjoy the candid photos... as two upcoming SoCal adventures are arriving soon!
