[Playlist] My Apple Music Replay & Spotify Wrapped for 2024

My 2024 Soundtrack breakdown, after the break!


My day isn't complete unless I'm bumping something special. Whether I'm in the car, playing video games with the homies, working on this website, fixing something around the house, or traveling across the country with the family... music is always there for the ride. Been obsessed with tunes almost my entire life that empty silence truly drives my mind bonkers. twenty one pilots' "car radio" personifies my silent madness better than any analogy I could come up with. "Quiet is violent." 

If I'm active, Apple Music or Spotify is usually playing in the background. One for outside the house, the other for inside the house. Normally. I did play more Apple Music around the house in 2024 than ever before. Not sure why I did? Less ads maybe?

(That's not including Alexa's random throwback free-to-play playlist selections which I request before bed. Don't really count those. They are awesome during this Holiday season!)

Apple Music Replay for 2024



My go-to music platform was subjected to constant stream of Kendrick Lamar & The Weeknd throughout 2024. A subject I'll probably speak more about in My Favorite Albums of 2024 blurb. The quick summary is... the Kendrick-Drake beef made me pick up 'Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' & 'More Life' once more. Found myself connecting with 'Mr. Morale...' more than I did in 2022. And The Weeknd has been like "comfort food" as I listened to his new singles alongside his gigantic 2024 'The Highlights' greatest hits project. 

That album didn't have "Phantom Regret by Jim" so I added that to my "Stuff Mix" and repeated Jim Carrey's prophetic words endlessly as I tackled new challenges. Makes perfect sense that people still listen to motivation albums or podcasts. Keeps the mind sharp. 

All the other songs from bands like Thirty Seconds to Mars, Linkin Park, Maroon 5, Santana, Noah Kahan, Jason Mraz, etc. were just vibes. Mostly travel music because I like old school favs when I trek. Fills this listener with nostalgic comfort. Allows my nerves to stay calm. Normally I'm Mr. New Content but this year I really spent more time in the time machine than ever before. Not sure why that is.

Spotify Wrapped for 2024



Compared to Apple Music, Spotify really disappointed me with their Wrapped results & analysts. There's no way my #3 artist deserves to be there. Played more music from Japanese artists (especially Mrs. GREEN APPLE) than them. Just peek at the list below. Strange, isn't it? My belief is that they need to appease various people each year so the results curve to help a certain narrative. Totally believe the rumors that the company took the personality out of their beloved series too... if you know what I mean. Find it all quite heartbreaking really. Hope Spotify rebounds next year!

Pretty sure I avoided the app in 2024 because of that reason after 2023's strange similar results.  



This listener tends to listen to Anime Music during my video game sessions. Reason why there is an influx of J-POP below. I did get on a hard rock, anti-war, binge while the boys and I played Helldivers 2 in the early part of the year. Made for an awesome gaming soundtrack as we fought for "Democracy". Everything else is quite obvious. (lol)
