[Showcase] Madi Diaz @ The Getty (07/12/25)

A return to the 405, after the break!

Madi Diaz @ The Getty's "Off The 405" Concert Series (07/12/25)

Special DJ Set by Stella Mozgawa (of Warpaint)

Over the years, you could usually find me at The Getty Museum's long running Saturday's "Off the 405" summer concert series. Can't thank Picksysticks enough for opening my world to this always brilliant and cultured musical experience. Not even the hour long drives have deterred this solivagant from attending... for each exclusive showcase feels like a once-in-a-lifetime secret show.

Helps immensely that their booker(s) / curator(s) impeccable buzzworthy musical taste continues to impress each series.

I didn't know much about Nashville-based singer-songwriter Madi Diaz before booking her show at the Getty. Spent the week before playing catch up like I normally do. Took the time to listen to her acclaimed 2024 album, 'Weird Faith', and a handful of collaboration singles that featured such familiar names as Caamp, Wild Rivers, Donovan Woods, & Kacey Musgraves. Fresh Americana perspectives presented within unfiltered relatable lyrical feelings... that could be considered a modern day artistic masterwork in the Getty Museum's famous marble courtyard? Add in Madi's naturally lovely uncomplicated vocals and you had the perfect formula for a fantastic memorable summer showcase.

Stella Mozgawa (of Warpaint) kicked off the evening with a nonstop mix - flavored with retro/poppy/soulful classics - that kept my head bobbing until main event took the stage at 7:30pm. Madi started off her showcase by testing some fresh unapologetic songs (see below) before flowing into her popular selects as the Getty courtyard continued to fill throughout the evening. All of us absorbing her heart-wrenching lovely folk stories as the night closed in. Left this late-night concert seeker in peaceful introspective that called back the memories of Getty performances' past. I can still hear the ambient wine glasses clinking in the distance.

That perfect serene feeling...

Truly missed being apart of this concert series. Hard to find the words to describe it, honestly, you know? That's why I take pictures! Even included some candid picturesque Getty Museum sites below (featuring their stunning view from Hollywood to the Pacific Coast). Enjoy!

Update: Madi Diaz just posted the studio version of "Feel Something" (which she played for us at the Getty) while announcing her latest album, 'Fatal Optimist'... which is set for release on October 10th!
