It took us awhile to re-enter the dark recesses of Hollywood since our eventful 2011.  We had planned two other events for January but due to my hectic day job, they never saw the light of day.   Nevertheless, thanks to Picksysticks…I was able to make one new showcase on the eve of February.
Much love to all the artists featured below.  You are a talented group and thank you for the amazing late night performances.  Shout out to Key Club too!

Cassadee Pope

Picksysticks has followed Cassadee Pope throughout her Hey Monday days.  He really wanted me to experience her angelic voice live and in person.  And must say, he was right.  Ms. Pope could wail.  This fact enhanced by the whole ‘unplugged’ vibe.  It made each poppy track extremely personal and heartfelt.  Made me rethink who was really the heart of that previous group.  Go out and check our her new stuff.

As a photographer, was really bummed by the red lights.  Tried to make it work.  Really wished they switched it up with each track.  They didn’t and the whole show was bathed in menopausal red light.  And speaking of paparazzi, felt like I was in underground photo fight club based out of Key Club.  I counted 10 different professional photographers among the crowd of Cassadee‘s friends and Hey Monday fans.  Kind of put things in perspective and was happy I didn’t have to battle LA Weekly.  Overall, my Pictures came out above average.  Being close to the stage really showcases that fact.
Did I love the duets with Justin Young and Ryan Key of Yellowcard?  Of course.  How could you not?  Popeand Key‘s rendition of Yellowcard‘s “Only One” was the highlight of the night.  Pure magic.  Not sure why.  Maybe because it was a song that meant so much to Ms. Pope.  Out of all the songs, ” Only One” was when we saw Cassadee unleashed and it was something incredible to experience.
Wish I had more complaints, but I don’t.  Good show Ms. Pope.  Really enjoyed myself.  She’s one to watch in 2012.

All four of the bands/artists below were incredible to see live.  Wasn’t expecting such talent, as each performance topped the last.  We will be following their progress in the days to come!  Enjoy these gifts from us.
