Showcase: Adele @ Staples Center (08/06/16)

A hundred ways to "Hello", after the break!

Adele @ Staples Center (08/06/16)

Adele came to town. She continues to perform at The Staples Center for the rest of the week. I recommend you scalp a ticket because this “show of the year” contender (here in LA at least) is completely sold out. From the floor to the rafters, expect to see everyone coming out and roll in the deep.

I bought our tickets last Tuesday for last Saturday’s epic showcase that sat me in the VIP section over looking the floor. Similar spot I sit at for LA Kings games (unless I’m living that Suite Life). Why here? Because the seats are comfy & spacious enough that I’m not elbow-to-elbow with some random fans. Must-haves for a 6’5 giant like me. They made the entire night a pleasure than a utter drag. Well, unless you count for the uninterested boyfriends/husbands surrounding us.

Can’t believe they don’t like a woman who can sing. Think that last trait is the sexiest thing in the world. (Said by someone who has a tendency to heartbreakingly date singers… ha!) None of them seemed to have a change of heart by the end of the 2-hour showcase. Oh well…we had a blast. Singing along and recording almost every single hit from Adele’s impressive 3-LP catalog on our iPhones. Certainly not proper, but when in Rome? Am I right? The rowdy seats behind us kept using a flash during their recording. Amateurs.

Adele had no opener. She doesn’t need one.

Side note: The Civil Wars, fan favorite of mine, did open for her during her 21 days and we all know how that worked out. (Yeah… RIP TCW.)

Adele’s three albums – 19, 21, and 25 – are now iconic pieces of music history. The show expands minutely by adding the still amazing/Oscar winning Skyfall to the mix of greatest hits & personal favorites. She starts her pre-planned, concrete, set list with the fitting “Hello” and, after the 2nd encore, lets everyone go nuts to “Rolling in the Deep” before they leave the arena. Leave them on a high note. I do feel sorry for die hard fans who are expecting surprises during her 8-night “Adele Live 2016” residency at Staples because don’t think the set list is gonna change much. Adele doesn’t need Julia Roberts or Usher to save her act from staleness. Her bubbly-talkative personality is enough. Trust me.

Despite the grandiose size of Staples Center, she makes the epic sold out arena into a “Storytellers” like event; in which she talks personally about some of the songs… all while greeting all the fans in the attendance with her iconic phrase: “Hello”. Kind of how I imagine her vision of a Las Vegas residency show. The additional bonus stage in the middle of the floor brings Adele even closer to her fan base. She took at least 20 minutes relishing in selfies before electrifying the room with “Set Fire To The Rain”. A track she performed the hell out of. The water walls made Adele look like a caged bird by the way.

I’ve only seen videos of Adele, the entertainer. To experience her well mannered demeanor in person kept a smile on my face over the course of 2 hrs. She really is just like us. Except with monstrous pipes.

Photography wise I used my Point and Shoot Nikon Coolpix with 35x zoom. Duh. Had no problem taking shots of Adele throughout the night. Pity I kept getting a side profile of her face. Didn’t mind though. Love how everything came out. Especially, all the pictures from the cellphone lit “Make Me Feel My Love” section. I mean. Unless you’re being paid for the close ups… crowd shots really speak volumes to amateurs like me…  and the headline photo (above) is poetry.

Enjoy the gallery. Share if you want. My next journey is probably FYF fest 2016. DIY guide arriving soon. But who knows?
