Our final Odyssey, after the break!
I've been waiting for the perfect song to be our 100th Song of 2024. Weeks passed until The Weeknd's new single hit my ears last weekend. Haven't stopped playing it since. Pure "feels" to include on my yearly soundtrack.
"Dancing in the Flames" is our first taste of his forthcoming new project, 'Hurry Up Tomorrow', which caps off The Weeknd's current 2020s Trilogy album series... resulting in the retirement of Abel's Weeknd moniker. Bittersweet feelings for this listener as I have been a huge supporter since that first mixtape dropped all those decades ago. At least Abel is ending it on his own terms.
I do like Max Martin's simple production on the studio version but felt this newly released acoustic version of "DITF" (off the fresh single mixed EP) fits this mournful, heartbreaking Tuesday for me. Really brings out what I love about the track. Fills me with such hope.
