Sorry it took so long to get this Showcase to blank page! Spent awhile editing the 500+ photos down to the near 200 posted over on my Flickr (see below). You can read my photography notes below if you're curious but first let's talk about the event...

T-Pain's lengthy Juneteenth Celebration Concert paid homage to the music of "the culture" throughout the years and featured so many special guests who brought honor, legacy, and importance to all these memorable songs from a decades of hits (including their own). Culminating in a once in a lifetime 3-hour musical journey that had us all dancing into the night. Made for a night I won't soon forget. 

I really appreciated how T-Pain managed the somewhat chaotic set-list by bringing what most of the Hollywood Bowl fans wanted from the evening... a good portion of his discography... just before the show got boring or dull. Felt like a total platte cleanser before the next musical meal in this four coarse curated dinner. Only got sweeter as the night went on as the T-Pain & his friends brought us up to date with how soul & hip hop evolved into the modern day. 

You could tell this event brought the emotion out of T-Pain as everyone in this nearly sold out Bowl thanked and cheered him on as he spoke to us from the heart at the end of the night. Probably felt even more special being surrounded by so many friends on & off-stage. A movie-like underdog event encapsulating our combined love for art, soul, and music. 

I really hope they give it a shot next year as I feel it would be a great yearly special event with T-Pain at the helm. The history lessons him and friends could tell in Hollywood each Juneteenth might even eclipse the Bowl's Jazz Festival in time. For it is important to keep teaching and paying homage to our collective culture in the most fun ways possible...

Notes: Despite how powerful my Android Galaxy presently is... I knew it would have trouble at the Hollywood Bowl. So that's why I dusted off my Nikon Coolpix S9500 (from 2013 with its amazing 22x zoom!) once more to capture this event with a keen lens. I took a few too many pictures but this concert photographer absolutely loves crowd shots. It is a victory that I could edit down an original album of 500+ to a little less than 200 for a jampack music showcase.
