LA Block Party 2026 @ Pershing Square (06/20/26)

Things didn't go according to anyone's plans the last time we visited Pershing Square for a summer music festival back in 2024. Severe weather and cancelled travel plans put a damper on the expected festivities and nor did we as music fans account for these delays. It made for an excruciating long, painful, and disappointing affair that I was always hesitate to participate in after attending.

Happily, this time around everything LA Concerts promised were fulfilled! We got an epic 6 plus hour summer jam with little to no pauses or downtime which highlighted some of Hip Hop and R&B finest legends. Artists whom albums and CD singles continue to gather dust in my collection.

Lowering our expectations and arriving later, roughly an hour after the gates officially opened, eased any tension we expected us to have. We knew comfortable shoes and finding a clear position within Pershing Square were the keys to a great evening. Then it was just avoiding the colorful characters standing around us as they pushed their limits with all sorts of "things". Life's too short to act all serious, you know? Always remember to have fun. Even I knew it would be hard to avoid the... how do you say?...ah yes, "contact high".

My goal wasn't to cover the show or take professional photos. I just wanted to chill & experience artists like Petey Pablo, Twista, Danity Kane, and Fabolous whom I vibed with as a teenager. And they didn't disappoint. My only complaint were the countless DJs in-between the sets that kept playing the same song over and over again. No individually. Just milking the (questionable) fan favorites. One of the DJs even played a whole Drake mix... in LA of all places. Can't make that stuff up.

Those were my only issues. Everything else was solid. Bravo to the LA Parks & Rec team for the fantastic offering. They really can throw a party! Enjoy our Concert POV as more summertime SoCal adventures will be "swimming" your way soon!
